Partnership with Peru’s Ministry of Agriculture to Enable EUDR-Compliant Exports

WRI is working with Peru’s Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) to facilitate compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by providing commodity producers and cooperatives with free access to its Global Forest Watch (GFW) Pro platform.

This is part of a broader initiative by MIDAGRI to promote sustainable and competitive agricultural exports while bridging the technological gap among smallholder farmers and cooperatives. One way they are doing so is enabling smallholders and cooperatives to access key digital tools like GFW Pro that support compliance with regulations like the EUDR.

The Deputy Minister of MIDAGRI, Carmen Vegas, said that this cooperation represents a strategic leap forward for small producers and cooperatives: “This allows us to create enabling conditions for farmers to comply with new international standards without incurring higher costs, guaranteeing continued access to export markets and strengthening the sustainability of our production chains.”

GFW Pro’s innovative satellite technology allows users to analyze and monitor forest cover, generating evidence to support declarations of the deforestation-free status of agricultural products like coffee, cocoa and oil palm.
