GFW Pro’s New Deforestation KPIs Support Companies with Voluntary and Mandatory Reporting
GFW Pro’s new Deforestation Reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), now available to all users, ensure organizations can comply with voluntary and regulatory disclosure requirements, including the EUDR, more easily.
They have broad applicability for deforestation-free reporting and follow guidance published by the Accountability Framework Initiative (AFi), which outlines an integrated approach to managing and monitoring deforestation, ecosystem conversion and greenhouse gas emissions attributable to land use change.
Companies can use the KPIs for multiple deforestation reporting workflows. For example, the KPIs integrate the Science-Based Targets Network ‘s (SBTN) Natural Forest Map , which draws from AFi definitions and forms the basis of SBTN’s land targets.
The Natural Forest Map
This natural forest class is also a close approximation of the EUDR’s definition of forest. Companies can use this map to understand if their production or sourcing activities have caused conversion since 2020 or if their future plans pose a risk of deforestation. Thus, the KPIs can be integrated into due diligence processes for the EUDR.
For all the indicators, users can visualize underlying datasets, run new lists or update existing lists to receive results on the diagnostic, and download.
