Simone Ransijn, Director of the MiCacao project and Helvetas Peru, said:

“The MiCacao Project is implementing a digital, interoperable and freely accessible traceability system for the cocoa supply that aims to strengthen the market position of cocoa farmers who apply climate-friendly and deforestation-free agricultural practices. We have developed a scalable tool that is currently used by over 4,000 producers across Colombia and Peru. Producer data can be sent for deforestation assessment on GFW Pro and the results are returned digitally signed. This verifiable credential is important as it shows the analysis has been independently carried out on GFW Pro, becoming an asset for the producer.”
